Any Spring Break Left?

March 20, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

For many kids, spring break has been shortened because of the really, really hard winter this year.  But some of you still have some time to gather together the family and finally get out of the house!  If that’s you, plan a trip to Madison and take advantage of our Spring Break Staycation offerings.

On Saturday, March 22nd, It’s Fossils Rock at Clifty Falls State Park Nature Center from 1-3pm.  From 1-2pm, get to know southeast Indiana’s most common fossil types, how nature produces fossils, and the importance of the fossil record.  At 2pm, you’ll be fossil collecting by car pooling to a location near Madison where you can collect a variety of amazing 450 million year old fossils.  Bring a shoebox for all your treasures.  Only $2/person age 5 and up.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Pre-register at 812-273-0609.

On Monday, March 24th, Make & Take a 19th Century Craft at Lanier Mansion from noon-2pm.  Only $1 per craft.  Call 812-273-4531 for more info & to pre-register.  Between 3 and 4:30pm, learn all about the US Flag at Old Glory 101 at the the Visitors Center.

On Wednesday, March 26, Lanier Mansion is having a special Behind the Scenes Tour at 1pm for $5/child.  See into all the nooks & crannies!  Lanier Mansion, 601 West First St, is also offering one free adult with paid child admission for their regularly scheduled tours – March 24-28.

There’s a free Who Knew Architectural Walking Tour on Friday, March 28 from 3:30-4:30pm.  It begins at Lytle Park on West Street.  For more info, call 812-599-3447.

This is just a sampling of some of the fun family things to do in Madison.  Checkout the complete list.
