It’s that time of year again – candy, costumes, and, of course, loud Ramones music. Every Halloween the local Ramones cover band “Shock Treatment” plays an awesomely fun and energetic show at Joeyg’s to raise money for the local hospice. This event has been a Halloween tradition for my wife and me for the last 5 or 6 years.
Even if you aren’t familiar with the Ramones you are sure to have fun at this event. They will have everyone dancing and singing along before the night is over. Joey usually pushes all the tables out of the way to make room for Halloween dance party. A room full of costumed punk rockers is a pretty entertaining sight.
There will also be a costume contest so don’t forget to dig out that wig or a pair of spandex pants for a chance to win a cash prize. My wife and I love to dress up and check out all the great costumes. Last year there was a couple dressed as KISS band members and they were very convincing. The year before a local patron made an authentic looking Frisch’s Big Boy Costume, complete with a 3-foot wide burger that he carried around all night.
In case you are not acquainted with the Ramones click here to see them performing the song “Shock Treatment.” This is the song the local band is named after.
I have never been disappointed by the enthusiasm at this fundraiser. The energy is contagious, and I hope everyone can come out and get a dose of “Shock Treatment.” This Saturday Oct. 27, 9:00 pm.
